The school year has kicked off, practice has began, and new members have chosen their squads. However, there are still more upcoming events to be on the lookout for. 9/06: Fabulous Fencing Friend-making Frenzy
Event Passed.
A chance to mingle with both new fencers and returners, play games, and eat free food! Those attending are more than welcome to bring their own dish to pass around. Note that this is an official fencing event, so no alcohol. Additionally, this was NOT originally going to be a bonfire. We repeat: not, originally, a bonfire.
9/12: First Buffalo Wild Wings Dinner
Location: Buffalo Wild Wings, 360 Albert St, East Lansing, MI 48823
Time: Right after practice – around 10:00 pm
Going out to eat after practice on Thursday nights has become somewhat of a club tradition. Join us as we collectively overwhelm BWW and its employees in the name of enjoying a lovely meal together. We leave right after practice ends. If you need a ride, don’t worry – we can give you one.
9/22: Chipotle Fundraiser
Location: 539 E. Grand River, East Lansing, MI 48823
Time: 4-8 pm
Fundraising events are extremely important for keeping the club alive. The money that we raise is used to provide equipment and working gear, cover competition fees, and keep the club open for all people. Additionally, the person who buys the most Chipotle burritos will receive a high-five from Jake. Be sure to let the cashier know you are there to support the MSU Fencing Fundraiser or show them our flyer before paying!
9/28-29: OSU
Location: The Ohio State University
Time: TBA
The first big fencing tournament of the school year! A group of fencers from each squad will be travel down to Columbus, Ohio and fence against other colleges. This event is open to both returners and new fencers and is a great opportunity to get completely destroyed by someone, feel out the competition, and learn something new! Talk to your squad captain if you are interested in going or learning more.
9/30: Announce Gear Order + Apparel Design Ideas
Location: Fencing Gym | IM West, Basement Gym
Time: During Practice | 8 – 10 pm
Tired of wearing questionable plastrons and jackets that don’t completely fit? The upcoming gear order is the perfect opportunity to purchase your own equipment. Additionally, if you have a design idea for a future MSU Fencing apparel, please share them! We take your designs and turn them into T-shirts, sweatshirts, etc. Moreover, if you have an idea, but don’t think you can draw it, we have people who can help you sketch out your design. More information about this will be announced during practice.
